THE FACE OF A HERO
At
about 1:20 AM this morning, a horrible attack took place at Lismore
City Hall where a 17 year old girl named Alexis was set upon by a
male armed with a knife while walking home . She was repeatedly
stabbed around the body and head.
The 22 year old male who
attacked her was not known to her.
A passing taxi driver
named Brett witnessed the incident and intervened. The male quickly
left the location and took off in his vehicle. He was arrested a
short time later by police in Casino following a short vehicle
pursuit, vehicle crash and foot pursuit.
Brett then got
Alexis in his taxi and drove her to the nearby ambulance station
where police quickly arrived to assist. They commandeered the taxi
and rushed Alexis to Lismore Base Hospital where she underwent
emergency surgery.
We are pleased to report that Alexis is
doing well and recovering in hospital.
Alexis and her family
would like to thank Brett, the heroic taxi driver who intervened and
saved her life, the police, for responding so quickly and doing
everything they could to ensure Alexis was provided with treatment
as soon as possible, and everyone at Lismore Base Hospital for
looking after her and helping her on her road to recovery.
Alexis and her family would also like to thank all the well wishers,
prayers and support from her friends and the community.
We
hope Alexis has a very quick and full recovery. :)
