MACHETE ATTACK |

ALSTONVILLE LOCAL ATTACKED WITH MACHETE
Considered
a peaceful farming area located in northern New South Wales, the
beautiful village of Alstonville, together with its charming
historic buildings, is one of those places where most know each
other and very little happens - so many believe.

ANZAC Day, a day
that should be respected by all, saw the peaceful village change considerably with
a series of events that started with a number of people celebrating
ANZAC Day having drinks at the Federal Hotel in Main Street and
resulted in a young man in hospital undergoing surgery after suffering a number of
serious injuries following an attack by a man wielding a machete, a
young mother in custody who is believed to be the cause of the
attack and the main person of interest still
outstanding. |

The initial police report, at about 4:50 pm on ANZAC Day, involved a
situation where a female was reportedly assaulting a male in the
street after they all left the Federal Hotel. The victim reportedly
sought refuge in a local business to avoid the female before heading
to another address to wait for police to report the incident. The
female person of interest was last seen heading back towards the
hotel. |

Unconfirmed information from another source reported that the female
had been asked to leave the Federal Hotel before the initial
incident. This source also reported another female relative of the
first female person of interest was involved in the initial incident
and king hit the male victim.
Police did not attend the
initial incident near the Federal Hotel and were called again just
over half an hour later and asked to see the victim at a nearby
address. It is not known if they attended or how they dealt with the
reports. |

Unconfirmed
information received also indicates that the victim was walking in
Commercial Road much later in the night with a friend at about 11:30
pm when a vehicle pulled up beside them. The female person
of
interest who reportedly first assaulted the victim earlier got out
of the vehicle with another male who was armed with a machete.
The male armed with the machete started striking at the victim
cutting him numerous times. The male reportedly also broke the
victim's arm in two places by the sheer force of the blows with the
machete as the victim tried to protect himself.
A NSW police
spokesperson has confirmed that at about 11:30 pm on Saturday, a 27
year old male was walking along Commercial Road in Alstonville with
a number of other persons when they were approached by a female and
a male.
The 27 year old male was assaulted. He
suffered lacerations to his cheek and forearm and, as a result of
his injuries, was admitted to Lismore Base Hospital for surgery.
NSW police also confirm that on Monday 27 April, a female
presented herself to police at Lismore police station. She was
charged with robbery in company causing wounding, wound person with
intent to cause grievous bodily harm and other charges.
The
female appeared in court yesterday (Monday 27 April 2015). It is
believed police opposed bail due to the severity of the machete
attack and the female has been remanded in custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
Police have stated if any
persons with any information that may assist could contact Lismore
police, it would be appreciated. |

POLICE REPORT 03 |

The victim, who has already undergone one lot of surgery on Sunday
to stitch up his face and arm, is expected to go back in for more
surgery today where a number of plates and pins are expected to be
used. He has suffered numerous cuts and fractures as a result of the
attack.
A family member said he has suffered two fractures
from the severity of the blows with the machete and also stated that
if he did not put his arm up to protect himself, he would not have
survived the violent attack.
The victim's mobile phone was
also stolen during the machete attack.
Unconfirmed
information received also reports that police located the vehicle of
interest and the weapon used covered in what is believed to be the
victim's blood. They have reportedly secured the vehicle and the
weapon for forensic testing.
The male person of interest
believed to be directly responsible for the machete attack is still
outstanding.
Updates will be provided as received.
