FATAL ACCIDENT - CHINDERAH |

A forensic services vehicle called urgent at 8:43 am
this morning advising they came across an accident
southbound on the M1 at the Fingal Road turn-off
where a vehicle had collided with a tree. He
reported seeing several people with the vehicle but
he had to turn around to check on them. Police were
making their way.
A further call through the
station reported persons trapped with a vehicle
wrapped around a tree on the Pacific Highway at
Chinderah.
The forensic services officer
returned and confirmed one person trapped and
unconscious with a nurse on scene who could detect a
pulse.
Further police arrived and requested
additional resources to assist. Ambulance, fire
brigade and rescue were all activated. Highway
police made their way to assist with traffic.
Police confirmed one person deceased at 9:04 am.
Police advised they would be at the location
for some time and one lane was closed down.
Police also confirmed there was only one person on
board with a single vehicle involved that crashed
into a tree.
Crash investigators were also
requested.

Fatal accident –
Chinderah

Police are investigating a fatal crash on the far north coast.
About 8.45am (Sunday 9 August 2015), a Mazda sedan was
travelling south on the Pacific Motorway at Chinderah when it left
the road and struck a tree.
The driver and sole occupant, a
22-year-old man, died at the scene.
Police from Tweed/Byron
Local Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended
the scene.
One lane of the Pacific Highway was closed whilst
investigations took place.
A report will be prepared for the
Coroner and any witnesses are urged to contact police. |
