LISMORE FIRES |
|
|
The images and video footage attached show a
number of small fires that occurred overnight (24 January 2015) throughout the Lismore area.
Fire 1
Brewster Street Lismore
It is
understood this council rubbish bin fire started when some young people were
playing with fireworks and decided to let one off in a rubbish bin. The bin
is located opposite McDonald's and is located under a large line of trees.
The trees could have easily caught alight.
Fire 2
Leycester Street Lismore
It is not known how this council rubbish
bin fire was started but it was most likely started in the same way as the
first fire by the same people. The bin is located alongside a property fence
and close to a petrol station. Clearly not the smartest place to play with
fire.
Fire 3
Union Street South Lismore
Again, it is not known how this fire at a business premises was started
but it is believed to be the same people who lit the first two fires. The
persons of interest were reportedly up to no good at Horn's Gas Service in
Snow Street before a neighbour moved them on by shining a torch on them.
The group then reportedly moved to Pirlo's where they lit up a pile of
cardboard boxes that were sitting under an awning which is attached at the
front of the premises. The building is an old structure that would have went
up in minutes if there was no neighbour around to call fire brigade.
General Information
A number of witnesses saw
some of the people and the vehicles involved and provided information to
police. One of the vehicles was described as a ute with a distinctive logo
signwritten on the side of it
belonging to a business in the area. Further enquiries are being made in
relation to that vehicle.

A Thought
Imagine
facing 11 years gaol for each offence and then having to tell 'Big Bad Bubba'
when you get there that you are in for lighting up a few bins and some
cardboard because you were bored.
You might just see his face light
up.
